On August 19, 2024, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) XI Assistant Regional Director Marie Rose C. Escalada and Ms. Milagros Maglunsod-Tan, met with Hon. Romeo F. Alberca, Punong Barangay of BLGU Sto. Nino and the Officers and Members of Barangay Sto. Nino OFWs and Families Association (BSNOFA), to discuss collaborations and best practices in providing community-based care and welfare support for OFWs and their left-behind families. The meeting was facilitated by the Mindanao Migrants Center for Empowering Actions, Inc. (MMCEAI) led by Dir. Inorisa Elento-Sialana and team. DMW XI also visited the Community Migrants Desk operated by active and dedicated volunteers of the Rights and Welfare Action Committee who highlighted the importance of providing access to programs and services at the community level, peer support groups, and monitoring and regular tracking of OFWs and their left-behind families, especially the Anak OFWs.
